Personal Note and Request for Advocacy Support

Date: July 8, 2025
Dear Advocate,
Dear Advocate,

My name is Thomas Coates, and I’m reaching out in good faith, as a disabled individual who has navigated a complex, hostile, and procedurally compromised legal and administrative process after facing discrimination and retaliation in the workplace. I write not as a lawyer or public figure, but as someone who has done the hard work: documenting everything, following protocol, and preserving evidence—often in the face of obstruction, silence, and cascading harm.

What I share with you here is not theoretical. It is evidence-driven, citation-rich, and rooted in lived experience. I have built a record of filings and factual assertions supported by emails, official policies, and real-time system logs. In doing so, I’ve encountered systemic breakdowns—where processes meant to protect instead serve to delay, obscure, or suppress justice.

I am including a summary of key filings and documentation so you can see for yourself how critical issues—such as falsified disability records, retaliation for ADA-protected absences, and EEOC investigative failures—have been allowed to accumulate unchecked. I believe these are not only violations of law but also failures of duty, transparency, and basic equity.

My hope is to contribute to a broader understanding of how such cases unfold in real time and how we might collectively push for higher standards of protection and accountability. Your leadership and voice in this space could make all the difference.

I am attaching for your review a summary of recent filing which will give you a flavor for where I am currently positioned in my efforts:

Why This Matters

  • Broader Impact: When advocates are aware of cases like mine, it helps ensure that important facts and standards are recognized across agencies and peer networks.
  • Peer Standards: Your involvement can help hold all parties to the highest standards of compliance and fairness.
  • Transparency: Cross-agency collaboration discourages procedural errors and fosters accountability.
  • Support for Complainants: Having an advocate in the loop can provide protection and support, especially for those facing systemic barriers.
  • Precedent and Policy Change: Well-documented cases, shared across agencies, can influence future policy and improve outcomes for others.

What I Am Requesting

With your permission, I would like to copy you on my filings and communications, including those to:

  • U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
  • U.S. Department of Justice, Disability Rights Section
  • U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • Relevant federal and state courts (e.g., Eastern District of Virginia)
  • Other oversight and advocacy organizations as appropriate

If you have any advice or resources, I would be grateful for your perspective. If you are willing, I would also like to keep you informed of any additional filings or developments as they occur. Thank you for your time, your work, and for considering this request.

With respect and hope,
Thomas Coates
